Chana Pilau (chickpeas)

One pot spiced fragrant chickpea rice using @heera_foods basmati rice, so filling and comforting and such a satisfying dish.

Ingredients

5/6 small bayleaf

1 tspturmeric

3 small onion sliced

5/6 green chilli

1 tsp garam masala heerafoods

3 cups of basmati rice heerafoods

2 small potato diced

2 tbschana masala heerafoods

1 tsp punch parun

3 tbsp ghee heerafoods

1 can of chick peas heerafoods

Instructions

Step 1

Wash basmati rice and drain water ( leave aside)

Step 2

Wash chickpea, drain and leave aside

Step 3

Add ghee to the pan on a medium heat

Step 4

Add garlic, ginger and salt to taste

Step 5

Add punch parun and bayleaf

Step 6

Add onion and sauté for 2/3 minutes

Step 7

Add garam masala, turmeric and chana masala

Step 8

Stir and combine all spices until raw smell disappears.

Step 9

Add washed chickpeas and stir

Step 10

Add whole green chillis and cook for 1 minutes

Step 11

Add the basmati rice and give it a gentle stir.

Step 12

Add potato and 1 more stir before adding 4.5 cup of boiling water.

Step 13

Let it simmer and close the lid.

Step 14

10 minutes later give it one final stir before closing the lid and cooking it for 30 minutes on slow heat.

Step 15

After 30 minutes turn off the heat, add food colouring ( optional)

Step 16

Garnish with coriander
